(mi-lorenteggio.com) Bergamo, 21 May 2024 – The Montelungo Colleoni Program Agreement restarts in Bergamo to convert the former barracks into university residences and classrooms for teaching.
15 MILLION EUROS FROM THE REGION – Today, in the offices of the Bergamo headquarters of the Region, the content of the third supplementary agreement between the Lombardy Region, the Municipality of Bergamo, the University of Bergamo and Cassa Depositi e Prestiti to relaunch the redevelopment project was presented which sees regional funding of 15 million euros.
PUBLIC-PRIVATE PARTNERSHIP – “With the contribution of the Region – stated the regional councilor for Housing and Social Housing – we will unlock the process that will lead to the urban regeneration of an important portion of Bergamo through the form of public-private partnership, overcoming the difficulties that had characterized the initiative in recent years”.
THE PROJECT – The project involves the construction of the Montelungo student residence with 282 beds and university classrooms, while part of the former Colleoni barracks will be used as affiliated university residences. An info point of the University of Bergamo, square, car parks, commercial spaces and green plantings are also planned.
“The destination of the properties – specified the regional councilor for housing and social housing – remains what the Region was originally committed to. The redevelopment of the former Montelungo Colleoni barracks will be a development factor for the University and for the city as a whole, with benefits for the local economy and concrete responses to the housing needs of students. The role of the Region for the restart of the ADP is crucial”.
