He extorted money to an elderly woman and the owner of a convenience store. A 60 year old from Labicoin the province of Rome, was arrested by the Carabinieri and restricted in prison in Velletri. The man, already known to the police, must answer for the crime of extortion. The investigations were started following the complaint of a 78-year-old woman and a 37-year-old owner of a convenience store.
The woman told the police that the 60-year-old had been asking her for money for some time to purchase food, to which she initially agreed because the man did not use threats or violence. In the following days the man changed his behavior to the point of entering the house, where the old woman lived alone, against her will, requesting the sum of 25 euros, and then threatening and intimidating her with the aim of to force her to make a withdrawal at the Post Office ATM and finally to go with him to a nearby supermarket to purchase food.
The 37-year-old of foreign origins, owner of a minimarket in the center of Labico, reported some episodes dating back to last October, when the 60-year-old, a resident of the area, entered his business almost daily and took some products without pay them with a total value of around 80 euros. In the last period, following the shop owner’s refusal to no longer purchase products and/or drinks on credit, the 60-year-old adopted a threatening behavior first towards the shop assistant and then against the business owner while also simultaneously asking for sums of money.
The repeated conduct therefore resulted in the issuing of the precautionary order and the 60-year-old was taken to Velletri prison.
