Bees are the protagonists of a path of inclusion and solidarity. On May 20th, on the world day dedicated to this insect so important for the ecosystem of the whole world, the Municipality of Varese wanted to present the Varese-BiodiverCity projectborn within the PAESC table of the Municipality of Varese, now extended to Piatti Foundation et al Scientific High School “G. Ferraris” (involved in the “Young Thinkers” project).
The boys and girls from two high school classes went to the centers managed by the Piatti Foundation and interacted with the users, sharing what they learned about bees and by creating houses together which will then be positioned in points pre-established by the Municipality. First of all, students carried out un training course to learn how to relate with those who are followed by the day centers of Besozzo, Bregazzana and Brunella.
«The result was a project truly full of suggestions, ideas and relationships – he said councilor Nicoletta San Martino -. A unique opportunity to get to know each other and interact, a moment of true mutual enrichment in a complete interdisciplinary work, which touched on the in-depth study of the world of bees, the creation of the houses and precisely the comparison with different realities with which to dialogue. Sincere thanks to all the associations that have made themselves available and that are close to people’s needs.”
Stefania Barile, coordinator of the Young Thinkers project: «This is a broad project that aims to protect a common good, starting from the care of nature, the city, biodiversity and each other – has explained -. Thanks go to the professors, male and female educators, and above all to the boys and girls who put themselves on the line in a job that sees cohesion and cooperation at the center of its objectives. The strength of this project lies precisely in the sharing and union of many actors who put themselves on the line to overcome fragilities».
An activity that touched the hearts of the kids, who demonstrated all their enthusiasm by presenting the work carried out. The words that emerged most forcefully were enrichment and discoverya sign that the project has achieved its objective.
