violent robbery of a magistrate, two arrests

On charges of robbery, bodily harm and attempted extortion against a magistrate in service at the Court of Brindisi, a man was arrested by the Carabinieri in Manduria (Taranto). The arrest took place on the orders of the investigating judge of the Court of Potenza, who accepted the request of the Public Prosecutor’s Office of the Lucanian capital.

The robbery episode dates back to December 2022, when the magistrate was repeatedly attacked to steal a watch and a mobile phone, worth a total of several thousand euros. Subsequently, there was also an attempt at extortion through the “return horse” method, trying to return the stolen goods upon payment of a sum of money, but the attempt failed.

During a search in the house of the alleged accomplice in the robbery, against whom no precautionary measures had been taken, the Carabinieri found 80 grams of hashish and over 20 grams of heroin. Before opening the door to the soldiers, the man threw a package containing around 350 grams of heroin out of a window, which was subsequently recovered and seized by the Carabinieri. For this reason, the man was arrested for possession of narcotic substances for the purpose of dealing.
