Of the 194 billion euros that the Union has decided to allocate for the Pnrr, Italy has borrowed 122 billion. So far, we have spent 45 billion (mainly intended for hiring in the public sector, while the most lagging items are infrastructure and transport). Unless the Minister of Economy, Giancarlo Giorgetti, manages to obtain the requested extension, our country has two years to spend the remaining money. And in the rush to exhaust the funds, financed partly by Europe and partly by Italian taxpayers, but bound to the objectives of the Plan, the liquidity flows into many items. Also curious.

Expenses

We go, as he reconstructs the Press, from the water slides and the beach volleyball and five-a-side football fields of the Bolzano lido to the renovation of the flower market in Pescia, Pistoia, which has ten million euros available. In the last week, 4 million were also claimed by Minister Eugenia Roccella, for the certification of gender activities. While the deputy mayor of Turin has requested others for the spaces dedicated to dialogue between peoples, nearby Ivrea has obtained funds for the arrangement of the ramparts around the city castle. From North to South, the music does not change: in Palermo, for example, fourteen community start-ups will be financed by the money from the Plan. Also intended for the redevelopment of the center of Casale Monferrato, or for the church of Divino Amore inside the Roman park of Villa Ada.

The beach resorts

There are also more substantial expenditure items, from the reconstruction of Romagna devastated by floods to the new dam in Genoa, not to mention the billions for the energy efficiency of homes and the money for the construction of photovoltaic systems. The issue of seaside resorts is different: the 780 million euro revolving fund for their investments was financed largely by Cassa Depositi e Prestiti. But it was born thanks to one of the objectives set out in the Recovery Plan. And unfortunately for the anti-Europeanists, the European ones remain by far the main item of expenditure for the Meloni government.
