European cultural exchange activities for teachers and students of the “Vaccina” school have been completed – AndriaLive.it

The cultural exchange activities planned for the 2023-24 school year, as part of the European Erasmus+ project, concluded in the current month of May.

The “PN Vaccina” school, winner of accreditation for the Erasmus + 2021-2027 projects, cooperated with the Spanish institute throughout the school year CEIP “La Paloma”, in Azuqueca de Henares, near Madrid, to promote knowledge and a comparison of different educational systems and European identities.

«A discussion aimed at promoting a strong sense of European citizenship in our teachers and our students – comments the director of the “PN Vaccina” school – and which we hope will help everyone to feel part of increasingly interdependent communities. We all strongly believe in the wealth of possibilities for personal growth that can derive from feeling like European citizens, and this is why we intend to seize all the opportunities put in place by the Erasmus+ agency.”

A dynamic school year for the “Vaccina” School which saw the teachers and principal of the Andria school leave for job shadowing activities towards Spain and welcome other Spanish teachers to the same “Vaccina” school for job shadowing activities. These are opportunities that teachers need to grasp ideas, ideas and ways of implementing new teaching methodologies while dealing with their own resources. These exchanges between groups of adults were followed by student mobility: in March the students from Andria reached the Spanish school, having the opportunity to experience family life and their classmates’ routine for a while, while in May the Spanish students they were guests of Andria families. In both mobilities the students had the opportunity to experience the school experience of the host country and visit places of historical and artistic interest, essential nodes of mutual European cultural identities.

«Our students were able to grasp the many points in common with their foreign classmates and to understand that their home is also a bit like their home, just as their own home can be home for a new friend who comes from further away – he states the project coordinator Rosemary Scaringi, English teacher at the “Vaccina” school. “Erasmus+ allows you to learn, through very different experiences, all those key citizenship skills to which our designs continually refer. Our adherence to the principles of this project has important repercussions on our students and their families in terms of personal and social growth. The families and students who aspire to participate in the project become more and more numerous and enthusiastic year after year. This pushes us to continue on this far-reaching European path. The confirmation of the spending budget that we will receive for next year already puts us back on track today to look for future partners.”

New friends, therefore, new adventures, to discover our common European roots to transform into dreams for a future of peace and brotherhood.
