ORTONA – After the emotional appointment with the Toffa family and the memory of their beloved daughter Nadia, Unaltroteatro by Arturo Scognamiglio and Lorenza Sorino hosts a new event inside the Cinema Auditorium Zambra in Ortona (Chieti) for the “May of Books” : Thursday 23 May at 6.30 pm we will be there for “Comete. Scie d’Abruzzo” series directed by Peppe Millanta, “Parole d’Abruzzo” (Ianieri editions) by Daniela D’Alimonte, scholar and passionate about the history of the Italian language and dialect, is the author of numerous volumes and linguistic essays which concern particularly the Abruzzo dialect and toponymy.
The journalist Alessandra Renzetti will moderate the meeting, while the actress Lorenza Sorino will read some passages from the book. The entire May festival is organized by Unaltroteatro and the Libreria Moderna, Fabulinus&Minerva by Micaela and Francesco Ortolano.
This series on the immaterial Abruzzo – we read in a note – features a preface by the journalist and writer Giovanni D’Alessandro. For Millanta, with this new volume we go “digging into words, searching for their origin, getting to their source, it means comparing ourselves and getting in touch with what we have been”, therefore even the word says a lot about the history of a past that must be rediscovered and which inevitably projects towards the future.
THE FULL NOTE
The volume reviews some of the most iconic words of the Abruzzo dialect. The transcription with some conventional signs and the actual phonetic transcription has been reported for each term. Furthermore, attestations and variants have been included as well as the live use in local literature, or the presence in proverbs and typical sayings. For each of them there is above all a precise etymological reconstruction.
This series also enjoys the trust of the Associations: The Most Beautiful Villages in Italy, Authentic Villages, The Literary Parks, the Maiella National Park.
The event is free. On the occasion of the presentation, a glass of wine will be offered by the regional wine shop of Abruzzo. The event enjoys the support of Donnè, Lions Club and Inner Wheel.
