Press review – Tax fraud in the building renovation sector discovered by the Rimini Financial Police. Non-existent commercial operations: 6 people reported and 5 companies targeted by the Fiamme Gialle

But also extensive building renovation interventions in apartments in the province of Rimini and also in other regions. ‘Ghost’ operations, according to the reconstruction of the provincial command of the Guardia di Finanza, which would have served to generate non-existent expense items and costs to be included in the budget of the various companies. In this way, five companies involved in the investigation called «Giotto» would have managed to evade a significant portion of the taxes to be paid into the state coffers, but would also have obtained VAT credits to then deduct. It is the result of a complex operation against tax fraud in the building renovation sector conducted by the military of the economic-financial police unit of the Fiamme Gialle, with the coordination of the Public Prosecutor’s Office of Rimini. The Rimini financiers have executed a precautionary seizure decree issued by the Rimini court securities and real estate for over 6 million euros.
The seizure involved 5 companies, located between Rimini and Bologna, sums of money in current accounts, cars, an apartment and four warehouses. Six people have been reported, five men and one woman, de facto or legal directors of the companies involved in the investigations, or figures with minor roles within the same companies. Four of them live in the province of Rimini. They are accused of having set up a complex fraud that would have allowed the generation of false invoices for over 22 million euros, carried out in the building renovation sector and in the trade of paints through ‘paper mill’ companies.
