The Municipality of Bergamo will implement another giant screen in Piazza Vittorio Veneto on Wednesday 22 May on the occasion of the Europa League Final between Atalanta and Bayer Leverkusen. And more will be added to this another in Porta Nuova, at the intersection with via Guglielmo d’Alzano.
The main screen will be located in Piazza Vittorio Veneto, on the avenue and in conjunction with the Torre dei Caduti, as last Wednesday, on the occasion of the Italian Cup final between Juventus and Atalanta. Viale Roma will therefore be interrupted a few hours before‘eventstarting from 2 pm, when the screen set-up operations will begin and the essential technical checks on the structure will be carried out. The pedestrianization of‘area and access control will take place around 7pmwith the definitive closure of the area.
Piazza Vittorio Veneto will be divided into sectors. The officers will be manning the gates Local Police together with a group of stewards. It will still be allowed to enter (after checks) the area marked out for the event and reach offices and shops: anyone who enters will then have to leave the area. Entries will be guaranteed until the end of the first half of the race: after that moment it will no longer be possible to enter the delimited area.
The police forces foresee the possibility of an extraordinary turnout: first of all because a maximum of 12 thousand tickets are provided for Atalanta fans in Dublin (half compared to those guaranteed in the final in Rome) and also because flights to the Irish capital are practically sold out. Hence, the possibility that several thousand people converge in the center of Bergamoespecially if the weather conditions were good.
The area that will be closed to traffic during the match will, for this reason, be larger than that cordoned off during the match against Juventus and it will also incorporate the spaces of Porta Nuova, with the installation of a second screen at the intersection with via Guglielmo d’Alzano. During the race the area closed to traffic will extend up to the intersection with via Paleocapa and via Mai.
Starting from 7pm and for the entire duration of the event‘event it will not be possible to sell, serve or consume alcoholic beverages or drinks in glass containers or cans‘interior of‘affected area; it will not be possible to possess or explode firecrackers and fireworks and it will be forbidden to possess devices that spray irritating substances. The provision expires the moment the giant screen is turned off.
The Municipality of Bergamo recommends using the parking facilities in the city center, or parking there‘car in peripheral areas to then reach the‘area of‘event on foot or by public transport.
