Usb’s request on the topic of stabilization of labor inspectors in Sicily
“Following up on update requests – we read in the USB request – sent to the Supervision DC of the INL, the undersigned Trade Union Organization, most representative in the Central Functions sector, requests an urgent meeting on the subject of health and safety protection in the workplace, with particular reference to the commitments undertaken by the National Labor Inspectorate and by the Regional Department for the sending of a new inspection contingent to Sicily and the creation of a permanent table on health and safety“.
“That is – continues and concludes the union request – in consideration not only of the urgent strengthening of the inspection function on the island, but also of the need to guarantee, through the stabilization of the contingent in Sicily, the continuity of the supervisory action on the correct application of the health and safety regulations as well as on the observance of the laws in matters of employment and social security.
Considering it essential to guarantee legality safeguards5 through the intervention of INL staff in inspection activities on the Sicilian territory, we ask that every effort be made towards a rapid expansion of the inspection contingent. With regard to the permanent table currently being established, USB PI hopes not to miss out on its contribution in the in-depth analysis of the issues in the field, without neglecting the operational aspects and critical issues relating to the organisation, inspection planning and management of the employment relationship a staff that clamors for certainty about their work future“.
