Matera: Presentation of Francesco Niglio’s book “Publio Ovidio Nasone”

Publio Ovidio Nasone, the poet of tender love, the singer of becoming, is the protagonist of the new volume “Publius Ovidius Naso“, by the professor Francesco Niglio – Edizioni Villani – which will be presented Thursday 23 May, at 5.30 pm, in the Aula Magna of the “Loperfido-Olivetti” Institute for Commercial and Surveyors in Matera. The author will dialogue with Professor Corcella, Director of DICEM at the University of Basilicata.
They will brighten up the presentation -we read in a note- the maestro Giuseppe Ciaramella on the piano, the soprano Maria Grazia Carrieri and the tenor Mario Malagnini called to interpret arias from Puccini’s Tosca.
Ovid was the architect of the eternal transformation of images and words through the two most important rhetorical figures: metaphor and simile. In fact, in the Metamorphoses, but also in the Amores, he sang about transformation, the study now of feeling, now of the body and often of the relationship between these elements.
It will be truly interesting to listen to what Professor Niglio will be able to say about this great man, originally from Sulmona, who abandoned his law studies to go to Rome with the aim of developing his true passion, being a poet.”
