Andria’s challenger arrives!

Good news for fans from southern Italy, especially from Puglia, orphans of the Barletta tournament which should have been played in recent days. From 16 to 24 November a challenger tournament will be played in Andria (in the new “BAT” province, Barletta-Andria-Trani). It will be played on indoor synthetic surfaces and the prize money will be 30,000 euros. Donato Calabrese, president of the Puglia Regional Committee, said he was satisfied with the placement on the calendar, as there will be no other significant challengers that week. Also at the presentation was Isidoro “Dodo” Alvisi, FIT national councilor and former director of the Barletta tournament. According to him, Andria will be important for all the players chasing important points for a place in the draw at the Australian Open. The birth of Andria goes against the trend of a reality that has lost a lot of tournaments and sees others in difficulty.
