Crotone – Great love for the streets of the city which from tomorrow evening will be festively decorated awaiting the big one pilgrimage together with the Madonna of Capo Colonna. It is the night of the people of Crotone, in the month of May, the “Marian Easter” of this city, which gathers around its Patron Saint.

The city is celebrating for the Virgin of the Cape of the Columns, as it was called in ancient timesa pilgrimage which takes place as every year on the third Sunday of May, while during the month there are various religious events, celebrations and civil events.

The pilgrimage will start from Piazza Duomo at 1.30 am. From Piazza Messinetti to Via Roma, passing through the streets of the seafront, there will be a riot of blankets, images of the Madonna and flowers positioned on the balconies or on the entrance doors of the ground floor apartments.

A demonstration of affection and love for Madonna of Capo Colonna which will be carried in procession with the quadricello in these streets where, as per tradition, rose petals and notes bearing prayers or hymns to the Virgin will also be thrown.

Then Sunday 19 May, or tomorrow, the procession returning from the Naval League where the small painting will be taken from Capo Colonna to Crotone with a Coast Guard boat. There will be the fireworks show and the return to Piazza Duomo, in a long cordon of people on the seafront and via Poggioreale in celebration, with a blaze of lights, roses and notes flying from the balconies.

A colorful and popular way to show the devotion of a city to its Patron Saint.
