CREMONA – From July the passport request and renewal service will be available in all post offices in Italy. This was announced by the Director General of Poste Italiane Giuseppe Lasco at the end of a meeting with the Minister of the Interior Matteo Piantedosi on the progress of Poste Italiane’s Polis project.

“The great news is that from July, once the necessary regulatory steps have been completed – said Lasco – this service will progressively involve post offices throughout Italy, without distinctions between small and large centres”. Polis, added Lasco, “is proceeding quickly, to date we have already started 2,400 interventions and completed over 1,500 post offices throughout Italy. On the recommendation of the Ministry of the Interior, we have taken an active part in the extension of the passport request service to support the Police Headquarters and Commissariats. Since last March we have registered more than 350 requests in the 31 post offices where the service is active and by the end of the month, over 130 post offices will already be operational. I like to remember that over 80% of citizens have requested that their passport be delivered to their home via Poste Italiane, with a saving of time and important travel also and above all for the environment”.
