one is the longest running in the city

Special centenary birthday in Olbia for two grannies.

Olbia is also becoming one of the blue zones, or those lands where there are many long-lived inhabitants. A double centenary birthday was recently celebrated in the city, where two grandmothers from Olbia they turned 100 and 106 years old.

It’s about Francesca Gagliardi, who turned 100 on April 28th. But the city also has the longest-lived inhabitant, who surpassed that milestone six years ago. Tomasina Ruiu turned 106 on April 17th, setting the seniority record. This morning the mayor Settimo Nizzi visited the centenarians, sending them special wishes.

The mayor handed over the greeting scroll and brought them best wishes from the whole city. In recent years, even in the city there are more and more people who are reaching the century mark, a sign that, as in the rest of Sardinia, people live very well in the city too. This aspect, therefore, is no longer the prerogative of small countries.
