Afragola mourns Raffaele, the worker ended up in the cement mixer

Thursday 16 May Raffaele Boemio lost his life while working on a fiber optic construction site in Cancello and Arnone. The worker of Afragola, an employee of a company in Nola, ended up in a cement mixer for reasons still under investigation. The rescue efforts of the 118 health workers were useless and they could only confirm Raffaele’s death. The 62-year-old’s body has been seized for an autopsy. The police are investigating the case.

“There are no words to tell you, it happened. All so fast that we have yet to realize. We had so many beautiful moments, all together. and these moments will never be forgotten. Just thinking that you were only 3 months away from retirement and you would be enjoying your family… what can we say, we never expected it. HI Raphael now rest in peace,” writes his sister-in-law Michela.

AN ENDLESS MASSACRE

“An endless massacre. Another dead worker, again in our province: another life broken, while working on a construction site in Cancello and Arnone: an unacceptable massacre continues. Anyone who needs to work to live cannot lose their life while they work, it is unacceptable,” said Sonia Oliviero, secretary of CgilCaserta. “We have always asked for compliance with the legislation on health and safety in the workplace, a business model that does not only think about profit but which puts the dignity of workers before men and women and, above all, respect for the legislation and rules. Active labor policies are necessary, to hire inspectors and strengthen controls, it is necessary to invest in prevention and a culture of safety. But, above all, it is necessary to intervene on the laws that generate insecurity and death, because tears and dismay do not bring workers back to life and, above all, they do not serve to prevent fatal accidents”, concluded the trade unionist.
