It is scheduled for tomorrow – Saturday 18 May – the opening of the pedestrian cycle underpass in via della Fiera, one of the interventions affecting State Road 16, included in the plan of complementary works paid for by Autostrade per l’Italia. Another work that has allowed us to mend a historic fracture in the territory, compacting the city between the sea and the mountains of the Adriatic.
The intervention concerned in particular the construction of a box-shaped underpass crossing State Road 16, for a length of 16.40 metres, with access ramps (two on the mountain side of SS 16 and one on the sea side), at the height of the roundabout between State Road 16, via della Fiera and via della Grotta Rossa. A work that aims to improve the connection between the urbanized areas located upstream from the state road and the city, safeguarding the safety of citizens.
At this time, all the construction site networks are being dismantled and final cleaning is being carried out, to close the work and hand over the new pedestrian cycle underpass to the citizens. The opening is scheduled for tomorrow, when you will be able to cross the state road in complete safety by bike or on foot.
The realization of this work will allow the elimination of the current traffic light system serving the at-grade pedestrian crossing located north of the Via della Fiera roundabout, which however – only for safety reasons – will remain in operation for a few more days.
The sea-side cycle path, now already connected to Via della Fiera, will be definitively finished only after HERA has completed some works related to the PSBO, which affect a part of the park where the construction of another piece of cycle path is planned. Once this last phase has been completed, in fact, the project will also be able to be completed with the planned direct cycle-pedestrian connection with Via Alessandrini.
