It is highly anticipated the gala concert dedicated to Giacomo Pucciniwhich will be on stage at the Teatro Comunale Pavarotti-Freni in Modena Monday 20 May 2024 8.30 pm, as part of the first edition of Modena Belcanto Festival. The director will be the protagonist Stefano Ranzaniat the head of the Philharmonic of the Teatro Comunale of Modena, and two exceptional soloists, the soprano Maria Teresa Leva and the tenor Gregory Kunde. The program is a tribute to the composer from Lucca, on the occasion of the centenary of his death, with lyrical and orchestral pieces from Le Villi (1884), Manon Lescaut (1893), Tosca (1900), Butterfly (1904), Suor Angelica and Gianni Schicchi (1918).

The anniversary of the hundredth anniversary of the death of Giacomo Puccini represents an opportunity to celebrate the life and art of one of the most beloved composers in history. He too, without a doubt, is a genius of bel canto, in the broadest sense of the term. His works, of extraordinary emotional intensity, are still capable of captivating the spectator today thanks to the intelligence of the harmonies and the beauty of the melodies, and continue to enchant entire generations of enthusiasts, with the increasingly rare quality, among other things, to bring together neophytes and opera lovers. In this program, excellent performers, specialists in this repertoire, will retrace some of the pages of his catalogue, alternating lyrical pieces to orchestral momentsfrom his debut opera, Le Villi (1884), through Manon Lescaut (1893), Tosca (1900) and Butterfly (1904), up to pieces from the Trittico (1918) with Suor Angelica and Gianni Schicchi.

The concert is also enriched with a new promoted project from Filarmonica di Modena MOF, the University of Macerata, the ALI company (Accessibility Languages ​​Inclusion), the Teatro Comunale di Modena Foundation and some 3D Artists, Developers. The musical experience will in fact be open to the blind, visually impaired and deaf and hearing impaired public thanks to an audio-introduction to the concert, a multi-sensory journey in collaboration with the musicians of the Philharmonic, a digital card in audio version, LIS (Italian Sign Language ) and easy-to-read (easy-to-read language promoted by the European Union) and Subpac, a brand new technology that allows deaf or hard-of-hearing people to perceive the vibrations emitted by the notes and, consequently, ‘feel’ the music. SonarSense co-financed by Cobo Tech Transfer is in fact the project that revolutionizes the musical experience for the community of people with sensory disabilities through the innovative application of technologies and combining virtual reality with tactile listening tools, the first experimentation of which will take place on May 20th for the gala concert. An important initiative for inclusion that continues the path already started in 2021 by OperaInclusiva (Fondazione Teatro Comunale di Modena), but which for the first time is applied to an opera-symphonic concert.
