Today’s morning, 17 May 2024, the Carabinieri of the Girifalco Company, supported in the executive phase by those of the territorially competent commands of Lamezia Terme, Soveria Mannelli, Catanzaro and Soverato and with the support of the Carabinieri Cacciatori “Calabria” and the Dog Unit of Vibo Valentia, have carried out a precautionary measure order issued by the GIP of the Court of Catanzaro, at the request of the District Anti-Mafia Directorate of Catanzaro, against 8 suspects on the basis of the believed existence of serious indications regarding the crime of association for the purpose of trafficking of narcotics such as marijuana, cocaine and heroin.
Specifically of the 8 indicated, n. 2 are achieved by the measure of precautionary custody in prison, n. 1 recipient of the house arrest measure, n. 3 subjected to the obligation to stay at home during the night, and n. 2 subject to the obligation to reside in the municipality of residence.
The circumstantial elements acquired concerned an alleged syndicate dedicated to drug trafficking, such as marijuana, cocaine and heroin, operating in the territories of Girifalco and surrounding areas, in particular Amaroni and Borgia.
The investigations, started in 2022 following the arrest of a person found in possession of over 600 grams of marijuana were developed through technical and traditional activities and during the investigations, in response to the investigative activity, an arrest was made in flagrante delicto for drug dealing and various quantities of drugs destined for the drug dealing squares of the area were seized.hinterland girifalcese, professional machinery for vacuum packaging, high precision scales and scanner for detecting bugs.
The proceedings for the hypothesized types of crime are currently in the preliminary investigation phase.
