European Days of Historic Mills, last appointment at the Ancient Mill of the Fairies • Wonders of Calabria

With the initiative “Journey to the North East – In the places of the heart of Fata Gelsomina”, the cycle of initiatives promoted in Lamezia Terme by the Amici dell’Antico Mulino delle Fate association in the context of the European days of historic mills concludes.

The event on Sunday 19 May will start at 10am from the “Pan&Quotidiano” point, a new urban and cultural regeneration project in the Piazza Mazzini area, promoted by Stefano Pujia together with the architect Estero Pontoriero, inspired by the values of promoting the territory and Calabrian excellences. From there, crossing the historic center of Nicastro, you will reach the Antico Mulino delle Fate, where the guided tour will take place.

This year too, the Antico Mulino delle Fate was the only historic mill in Calabria and one of the few in Southern Italy to join the European day of historic mills, with a program of initiatives that already on the 10th, 11th, 12 and 18 morning saw hundreds of visitors of all ages visiting a place that has now become a cultural point of reference for the entire region under the banner of the values of environmental sustainability, the rediscovery of tradition and good food, against the backdrop of a past made of legends, stories and fairies, where time is marked by the rhythms of nature, by the patience and care required by the process that leads from wheat to flour and bread, a symbol of life and sharing.

In 2023 the Antico Mulino delle Fate won the International Award “La Fabbrica del Paesaggio 2023”, promoted by Ficlu (Italian Federation of Associations and Clubs for UNESCO) in the section “Renovation with particular attention to the environment and landscape” , on the candidacy proposed by the UNESCO Club of Catanzaro.
