The third and final weekend of dance events in Barletta with the XI edition of Actions in Dance is dedicated to the collaboration with Anticorpi XL – Italian Network for the promotion of young author’s dance, which through the Vetrina della Giovane Danza d’Autore action promotes the works of young artists who stand out for their talent and spirit of choreographic research on the Italian scene .
Three days of events that will close the Barletta event in which some of the most prestigious names on the contemporary dance scene have participated and are still participating this year tooestablished and nationally and internationally recognized choreographers and dancers who are performing outside the usual spaces of traditional programming.
Naturally, Apulian companies cannot be missing in Barletta. From Friday 17th to Sunday 19th May the last shows will be staged in the Church of Sant’Antonio. Let’s start Friday 17 May (9.00 pm) with Sameval Coevo _ the double and the mirror of and with Serena Angelini on stage with Giulia Bertoni, produced by ResExtensa / Porta d’Oriente – National Dance Production Center & Mediterranean AREA – “AnT – Artists in the Territories”, followed by Totemic – Site Specific Of Manfredi Perego with Chiara Montalbani, produced by MP.ideograms / TIR Danza, one of winning creations of Danza Urbana XL 2024 – action of the XL Anticorpi Network.
Saturday 18 May (9.00 pm), directly from the 2023 selection of Showcase of Young Author’s Dance XL, will be staged as a regional exclusive Hell of and with Pierandrea Rosatoproduced by Sosta Palmizi, followed by Inexorably one way of and with Emma Zani and Roberto Doveri with original music by Timothy Carbone produced by YoY Performing Arts / Anghiari Dance Hub. It is also scheduled for the same evening RIAD Rhythm Is A Dancer of and with Mattia Quintavalle and Giacomo Turati, another of the winning creations of Danza Urbana XL. The review will close on May 19th (8.00 pm) with a special non-subscription event with the collective Krass composed of Barletta artists Stefania D’Onofrio, Elisabetta Lauro and Dania Mansi who present a new work entitled Hey Jo – a study (concept by Elisabetta Lauro), which will be presented in the form of the first study – which touches on and explores issues related to today’s society in the form of a game… but which is not so playful. Following is the video projection of the Docufilm of the 11th edition of Azioni in Danza with the talk “Behind the scenes – anecdotes and curiosities” by Alex Di Terlizzi and Erika Di Bari.
“I am really happy with the response of the spectators and the reactions of general satisfaction that the event also collected last weekend, overlooking the fact that we are not always able to offer an ideal space for the public due to the poor visibility, especially when the artists they perform on the floor. The Church of S. Antonio which hosts our Festival is an evocative place that we set up in the best possible way also thanks to the experience of the professionals and technicians who support us, but it is often not an ideal place even for the artists who perform site specific with limited technical data sheets. But thanks to the public and the artists we are all moving forward by adapting and Actions in dance continues to propose dance shows that also incorporate other things, that is, other forms of expressiveness linked to the dramaturgy of the body and the transversality of art in general. The objective is to increase the public’s vision of dance, to give new cultural stimuli to the city with the hope of be able to be welcomed in the future also in other spaces in the city suitable for dance” explains Stefania D’Onofrio creator, curator and coordinator of the Festival.
Azioni in Danza is supported by the Municipality of Barletta and created by the Teatro Pubblico Pugliese in collaboration with the Anticorpi XL Network and the KRASS Association. Over the course of its editions, the project has created events to attract new audiences, bringing dance into unconventional contexts, in places frequented by young people and by an audience “other than dance”.
