New great event for the “Polimnia” Cultural Association led by Luigia Pastore. On Saturday 18 May, at 9pm, the four-act melodrama “Aida” will be held at the Alfonso Rendano Theater in Cosenza, with a libretto by Antonio Ghislanzoni with music by Giuseppe Verdi.

A commendable event, which enriches the vast and already appreciated annual program of the association, within the project “Il Rendano and its historical curtain”, with the patronage of the Province of Cosenza and of the city of Bruzi itself.

The Brutia Symphony Orchestra will be directed by maestro Alessandro Tirotta, the Francesco Cilea opera choir by maestro Bruno Tirotta. The direction is entrusted to Rocco Pugliese Eerola. There will be no shortage of very important interpreters, who will step into the shoes of the characters in the story.

Aida will be the soprano Marika Spadafino, who has already graced the stage of the most important Italian and international theaters and festivals, including the Teatro alla Scala in Milan and the San Carlo in Naples.

The tenor Angelo Forte will play Radamès, the captain of the guards. Forte made his debut in 2006 in the opera “Zauberflute” at the Rendano Theater in Cosenza, as part of the “Moz’Art Project” exhibition.

Amneris, the daughter of the King of Egypt, will be the mezzo-soprano Maria Felicia Toscano, who in recent years has taken part in numerous opera productions around the world. You have already played numerous important roles, including Mercedes (Carmen by Georges Bizet), Maddalena (Rigoletto by Giuseppe Verdi) and Suzuki (Madama Butterfly by Giacomo Puccini).

Finally, among the main protagonists, the baritone Luca Bruno plays Amonasro, king of Ethiopia and father of Aida. Bruno is currently a teacher of vocal chamber music at the Stanislao Giacomantonio conservatory in Cosenza. Recently, he was engaged in nine performances of Bizet’s Carmen as Moralès at the Teatro Lirico of Cagliari and Germont in Verdi’s Traviata in Vibo Valentia. And again, Rigoletto at the Taranto Opera Festival and the National Theater of Cluj-Napoca in Romania.
