Fifth year of programming for “Stories to start over”, the “widespread green festival” conceived and organized by Vesuvius theatre and directed by Claudio Di Palma.
From the Casina Vanvitelliana to the extraordinary eighteenth-century architecture of some of the most beautiful Vesuvian Villas, the new edition sets its original theater itineraries in 14 of the most fascinating sites of the cultural and landscape heritage of Campania.
Live shows constructed – with the artistic consultancy of Giulio Baffi – following a now consolidated formula, to combine the wonder of many historical and naturalistic architectures with the extraordinary evocative power of the theatre.
Among the places that are confirmed as the venue of the Festival – recognized and supported by the Ministry of Culture, the Campania Region as well as numerous public bodies and institutions – there is once again the Pacific Mill of Benevento, which will host the show So is Pirandellocurated by the Solot Compagnia Stabile of Benevento, which sees Assunta Maria Berruti, Michelangelo Fetto, Antonio Intorcia and Francesco Ricupito on stage, directed by Antonio Intorcia.
The play will be staged on 22, 23, 24, 25 And May 26th at 6.45pm in the garden of the Mulino Pacifico for a limited number of spectators.
This is how the director anticipates the show: “Relationships between people are often conditioned by false images and beliefs that each person constructs of the other; the image of the human being can be so distorted that all that can be seen of him is a grotesque mask.
A man, Chiàrchiaro, has the reputation of bringing bad luck and wants this absurd prejudice to be recognized as a way to gain an economic advantage.
When he takes off his mask for a moment to talk about his condition with the judge who has to instruct the defamation trial, his story, funny and caricatural, reveals a vein of profound bitterness and authentic pity and becomes emblematic of the mockery of life .
Another man, Gigi Mear, a forgetful protagonist, finds his double in an alleged friend: he is what he is not, what he would have liked to be, that part erased from existence, rejected, which reappears in his life.
We return to one of the greatest playwrights of the 20th century, Pirandello, after many years, staging two of his famous short stories: THE LICENSE and AMICISSIMI”.
