The Aringhieri ship returns to Cagliari: it saved the lives of 25 migrants in Spain | Cagliari

Return to the port of Cagliari there ship Roberto Aringhieri, a vessel of the Sardinian Coast Guard engaged in a mission in Spain to save migrants. The Aringhieri was stationed at the port of Almeria to take part in Operation “Indalo 2024”, under the aegis of the European Agency Frontex and coordinated by the Spanish Civil Guard.

The ship’s contribution was heroic, providential in a double rescue operation for two small dinghies, one of which was in extreme danger of sinking, allowing rescue a total of 25 migrants of Algerian nationality. Furthermore, during patrolling, Aringhieri identified a suspicious vessel, in a state of abandonment, moored off the coast and used for illegal immigration purposes, recovered and handed over to the Spanish Civil Guard.

Launched on 28 October 2021, the Roberto Aringhieri belongs to the new “Angels of the Sea” class, taking the name of the Lieutenant, Gold Medal for Valor of the Navy, who lost his life on 28 October 1995 while operating in a team inspector responsible for checking the cargo transported by a foreign merchant ship.
