The soldiers of the provincial command of Arezzo, in collaboration with the technicians of the ARPAT – Arezzo department, as part of the constant economic control of the territory, carried out an assessment on environmental protection in a vast private area used for waste storage Of every kind.
The intervention, carried out by the Sansepolcro administration, concerned land available to a company in the Tiber Valley, identified following a prior large-scale mapping of the territory, carried out by the aerial section of the Pisa financial police using specific overflights, on board helicopters equipped with the latest generation technology.
At the end of the intervention, the Biturgen financiers found a green area used for uncontrolled waste storage, in the absence of the authorizations required by the consolidated environmental law.
The operators, with the collaboration of the ARPAT technicians, proceeded to carry out the so-called “characterization” of the illicitly deposited waste, subjecting to criminal seizure an uncovered and unwaterproofed area, of approximately 1,300 m2, where a large and varied quantities of waste, including “special” waste, such as deteriorated and obsolete machinery and equipment, as well as “dangerous” waste (heavy motor vehicles that have not been reclaimed, containers containing WEEE – waste from electrical and electronic equipment), which should have been sent for operations of disposal.
The legal representative of the company was reported to the Arezzo public prosecutor’s office for unauthorized waste management activities, pursuant to art. 256 of Legislative Decree no. 152/2006 (consolidated environmental law).
