FANO – One last open letter for saying goodbye to the citizens of Fano and a city he led for ten years. After failure to be elected to the 2024 European elections and the handover to Serfilippi, the outgoing Mayor Massimo Seri wanted to put down his last thoughts as First Citizen in black and white: «Dear fellow citizens, today, after ten years and after having passed the baton to my successor, as your mayor, with emotion I address you for the last time in this role. There are not enough words to express how meaningful this journey together has been for me. It was a decade of challenges, of goals achieved, of difficult moments overcome together, but above all, it was a decade of extraordinary closeness.”
And continues with thanksi: «I want to thank each of you, from the bottom of my heart, for the trust, support and affection you have shown me. You are the soul of this city, the meaning and reason that pushed me to give my best every single day. Your constant presence, sometimes critical, has always been the stimulus to face the challenges that awaited us.”
There are many challenges and moments that are not easy passed through by the City under his leadership, including the hardest one of the pandemic: «We shared joys and sorrows, victories and defeats. Every project completed, every small or large success, was the result of teamwork, of a grumbling community that knows how to be united in times of need. We saw this during emergencies and in the difficult months of the pandemic. I will always remember the smiling faces of children in the new parks or during the initiatives dedicated to them, the satisfaction of many when we inaugurated redevelopments such as the “Pincio”, and new structures such as a new school. I also did not miss the criticism for the inconveniences of the many construction sites, the discussions on issues that concerned everyday life, fragilities, but every gesture, every word of encouragement, every constructive criticism helped me to grow and improve”.
And again: «Being mayor is a service and a mission. A mission that I tried to carry out with all my commitment, putting the person and his well-being first. I hope I have honored your trust, met your expectations and contributed to making our city a better place to live. Looking to the future, I am confident that our beloved city will continue to grow and prosper. The strength and determination that I have seen in you give me the certainty that the path undertaken will continue successfully. I conclude this greeting with a thank you from the bottom of my heart. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to serve you, for accompanying me on this extraordinary journey, for making these ten years unforgettable. With affection, gratitude and esteem.”
