Two of the perpetrators of the bloody attack that took place on the night of April 18 in Prato against a thirty-year-old originally from Morocco who had remained between life and death in neurosurgery in Florence for a couple of days are in the Dogaia prison.
The precautionary measure ordered by the GIP of the Court at the request of the Public Prosecutor’s Office of Prato for attempted murder in conspiracy was carried out last Saturday by the Carabinieri of Prato who within a few weeks had reconstructed the circumstantial framework and identified two of those responsible.
The attack took place around one in the morning along Via Carradori, a few steps from Porta Santa Trinita, one of the places of Prato nightlife, where a small group of at least five people, probably of North African origin, were found near a bar in the area, one of their compatriots. He left the club and was attacked and stabbed by machete blows to the head and body, blows that caused almost fatal injuries. The noises awakened several inhabitants of the area who, despite themselves, found themselves witnesses to a bloody event.
The injured man was transported to the Birth Hospital and then transferred, due to two significant injuries to his skull, to the Neurosurgery of the Florentine hospital in Careggi where he underwent a delicate surgical operation which averted his death.
The investigations were particularly difficult from the start given the lack of collaboration of the main protagonists of the affair who often also had criminal records. The investigators encountered a certain reticence to collaborate both in the people informed about the facts directly linked to the victim and in the few present on site, as patrons of a well-known ethnic venue in the historic center, where the victim was in the minutes before the attack .
The patient work of the Carabinieri made it possible to collect many clues, supported by the images of the surveillance cameras in the area, which led to the precautionary request later endorsed by the Judge for Preliminary Investigations of the Court of Prato and confirmed during the guarantee interrogation carried out against of the two arrested.
The investigations are still continuing to search for the other members of the group and to verify connections with some less bloody events that occurred in the city in the medium term that could be connected to the affair.
