Screening for cancer prevention and free checks in the square of the user’s municipality of residence: it is the heart of the project’Home of mobile health‘, promoted and financed by the Region, which will start on May 20th in the territory of ASL 1 Abruzzo and which will last until October 5th.
Through mobile clinics, the health company will provide services to all citizens, free of charge and without the need for a medical referral or reservation, screening and diagnostic services in pre-established public squares and places 70 municipalities of the province of L’Aquila.
The initiative falls within the programmatic lines of the ASL management, led by the Manager Ferdinando Romano, which considers prevention among the absolute priorities, with the consequent need to bring it to the places where the user resides, in particular in the internal areas usually furthest from the health provision centers.
With mobile units and cutting-edge equipment, which will stop in the Municipalities from time to time, citizens will be given a kit for the search for occult blood (for colon-rectal screening) and offered the possibility of undergoing, free of charge, a Pap test and HPV tests as well as doing mammograms with the latest generation machines. In addition to these services, focused on prevention, the population will be able to take advantage of spirometry tests, checks on suspicions and electrocardiograms.
Citizens will be welcomed in mobile units equipped with clinics, waiting rooms, toilets and access for people with disabilities.
The traveling clinics will operate from 9am to 5pm, Monday to Saturday. The project ‘Home of mobile health‘, already implemented in the other Abruzzo local health authorities, will begin in the province of L’Aquila on 20 May from Marsica (8 stages), to then be extended to the L’Aquila area and the Peligno-Sangrina area.

The first stop is set in Carsoli (Piazza della Libertà, next 20-27 May). Followed by: Sante Marie (Piazza Aldo Moro, 28-30 May), Cappadocia (Largo Vittorio Veneto 31 May-3 June), Civita d’Antino (Railway station, parking area, 4-6 June), Villavallelonga (area adjacent to the school elementary, 7-10 June), Ortona dei Marsi (Piazza Emilio Ferrante, 11-13 June), Lecce nei Marsi (piazza Aldo Moro, 14-17 June) and Ovindoli (piazza San Rocco, 18-20 June).
