Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride, old style motorcyclists invade Turin

Fashionably trimmed moustache, monocle, silk and tailored suits. Here comes the invasion of motorcyclists with vintage clothes, on historic and classic motorbikes: it is the Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride, a motoring event of global resonance and aimed at raising funds in an awareness campaign on the issues of prostate cancer and male mental health, in collaboration with the international association Movember and scheduled for Sunday 19 May. The initiative has been active since 2012 and is being implemented simultaneously in 900 cities and 110 countries. There will be old style motorbikes for all tastes: Café Racer, Bobber, Classic, Tracker, Scrambler, Old School Chopper, Modern Classic, Sidecar, Classic Scooter, Brat Styled.

The gathering was born in Australia, from Mark Hawa’s idea of changing the stereotype of the motorcyclist and creating a connection with the most exclusive two-wheel communities, but the great success of the initiative pushed the organizer to exploit the gatherings for a good cause. Over time, the Dgr has contributed to the fight against prostate cancer (35 thousand diagnoses per year) and to the prevention of male suicides (3 out of 4 in the world involve men). Participation in the initiative is free, but it is possible to make a voluntary donation. There is also the possibility of joining the initiative as a sponsor, through three levels of financial commitment which give the right to different possibilities of appearing with logos on posters and stands at events: Gold (2 thousand euros), Silver (500) and Bronze ( 200).

The meeting point is at 9am under the Garibaldi monument, in Lungopo Armando Diaz. The program includes the arrival of the participants and the display of the motorbikes between 10 and 11 am, a quick briefing at 11 am and an aperitif-lunch based on street food until 1 pm. Then, the highlight of the day: the parade in the city, from 1.30pm to 3pm.
