PESCARA. More Italy, less Europe. This is the slogan with which the deputy prime minister and minister of Infrastructure and Transport Matteo Salvini he showed up yesterday afternoon at the Flaiano auditorium to present his book “Controvento” and support the candidates from Pescara and Montesilvano, involved in the municipal elections in June.
An afternoon opened by the regional representatives of the League, including the representatives of the regional council Vincenzo D’Incecco, Emanuele Imprudente And Carla Mannettithe senator Alberto Bagnai and the regional secretary Luigi D’Eramo. With them too Laura Cucchiarellacandidate for the European elections and then the intervention of the outgoing mayor, candidate of the centre-right, Carlo Masciwho said he was confident of “a success in the first round”, and who invited everyone to the opening of his electoral campaign tomorrow afternoon at 6pm in the area liberated from the demolished Horseshoe.
Salvini focused on the content of his book, analyzing some of the passages that, as repeated several times by the Northern League leader, he wants to bring to Europe. «In the last electoral round we got 7.5% in Abruzzo and 8% in Pescara. Now we want to improve and the air I feel is good”, he said from the stage.
«We are against that Europe that wants to tax our homes, that of bureaucrats and bankers. We are against Bolkestein’s Europe and, in this regard, I tell the seasiders from Pescara and Abruzzo that the League has presented two proposals in Parliament to protect their sacrifice and their work”. Then again: «I can honestly say that we will never support candidacies like those of Ursula von der Leyen or Mario Draghi. Allying yourself with Macron rather than with Le Pen means wishing Italy ill”, she said, also addressing part of the centre-right coalition.
“Europe was born to ensure peace, well-being and work: but you just need to turn on the news to realize that today there is none of this.” There were also passages on the justice reform, «where there is a need for the separation of careers between judges and prosecutors and the civil liability of judges, who have to pay if they make mistakes», and on the general Roberto Vannacciwho a few days ago said he was ruling out sending Italian soldiers to Ukraine, a concept echoed by Salvini when he explains that “we will not send our boys to fight and die outside European borders”.
The Vannacci topic was also the subject of a brief discussion with a member of the public, dismissed by Salvini in a few seconds. At the end of his long speech there was space for photos on stage with the candidates from the Northern League of Pescara and Montesillvano.
