Transport Minister Matteo Salvini signed an ordinance injunction against the trade unions who called the rail transport strike between Sunday 19 and Monday 20 May. MIT announced this, explaining that this is a decision «made especially in view of the important weekend for Formula 1 fans, as coincides with the Made in Italy Grand Prix sporting event and Emilia-Romagna at the Imola racetrack.” The estimated influx of tourists and enthusiasts is more than that 200,000 people, explains the ministry, underlining that the strike would cause significant repercussions and problems of public order and safety. “On the basis of these reasons, Minister Salvini has therefore ordered the deferral”, adds the MIT
Salvini has already resorted to injunctions in the field of transport, for example on the occasion of the train stoppage proclaimed a few days before last Christmas. The unions had appealed to the TAR and the administrative judges of Lazio (but in March) had declared the ministry’s provision illegitimate because it was not sufficiently motivated.
