Ternana: bittersweet draw in Bari

Ternana emerged unscathed from the first leg of the play out against Bari at the ‘San Nicola’, drawing 1 to 1 with a goal from Pereiro (deflection by Di Cesare). A result that brings Fere closer to salvation, given that Bari will be forced to win at the ‘Liberati’ next Thursday. But it is a draw that paradoxically leaves a bad taste in the mouths of Mr. Breda’s boys, who dominated the first half wasting a lot: a missed penalty (yet another) from Casasola, two posts and a couple of important saves from Pissardo. Then in the second half Bari was more aggressive, thanks above all to the entry of Maita, who gave more substance to the red and white midfield and created the conditions for Nasti’s lead. Finally, the match returns to the historically most complicated scoring area for the rossoverdi. Fere appeared more toned and convinced of her abilities. What is certain is that Mr. Breda’s boys obtain a saving equal but not yet decisive for a salvation which if achieved would be miraculous.

First half

Iannarilli new starter; Casasola right arm. These are the only two variations that Mister Breda decides to make for the first leg of the play out against Bari. Vitali therefore leaves the defense of the posts to the holder of the role, returning exactly 40 days after the injury (fractured two ribs ) suffered at home against Modena. Casasola, on the other hand, having served his one-match suspension, is once again proposed in the role of centre-right defender, already well performed in the match against Catanzaro. The other nine are the same as Piacenza: Dalle Mura leading the defense, Lucchesi the left arm, Favasuli and Carboni fifth in midfield, completed in the central area by Luperini right midfielder and Faticanti left midfielder. Amatucci to orchestrate in the control room. Pereiro and Di Stefano forward. Mister Giampaolo of Bari fields ten elevenths from the last round against Brescia: the new player is Bellomo in place of Achik. The 4-2-3-1 has been confirmed, with Benali and Maiello in the middle, Acampora as sub forward and Nasti as center forward. Just twenty-seven seconds from the start and Bari immediately dangerous: Sibilli’s header from Pucino’s cross hits the post to the left of Iannarilli. Ternana responds to the third, with a descent by Carboni who reaches the edge of the area and puts it back low for Pereiro: the conclusion, disturbed by Vicari, ends high. Fere again two minutes later: Pereiro-Carboni exchange with the latter reaching the back and shooting with a sure shot. Pissardo deflects with his feet. In the eighth minute penalty for Ternana: Nasti touches Carboni who was about to take the ball, Aureliano is one step away and decrees the penalty. Unfortunately the curse on penalty kicks continues (4 out of 5 missed this season) and Casasola had his shot saved by Pissardo. However, Ternana doesn’t seem to feel the pinch and in the 13th minute Pereiro attempts a curling shot which goes just wide. In the 34th minute another gigantic opportunity for the Fere: persistent action by Luperini who reaches the back and puts it back in the middle. Di Stefano gets there with the outside right but hits the post. Ternana must have an open account with bad luck because in the 44th minute Pereiro unloads a low left-footed shot which hits another post, this time to Pissardo’s left.

Second half

Bari opportunity in the 50th minute: Benali serves Sibilli on the run, the winger reaches the back and makes a tense cross which Nasti narrowly misses. Bari again in the 54th minute, with specialist Di Cesare heading from a corner: the ball goes wide but not by much. In the 58th minute Bari took the lead through Nasti, served with a through pass by Ricci. The close-range left-footed shot leaves Iannarilli no chance. With a quarter of an hour to go, Bari changes their attack with the arrival of Puscas and Kallon, while Ternana decides on a more offensive setup, while remaining with the 3-5-2. Raimondo for Carboni and Di Stefano moved to the left wing to play the midfield fifth. In the 81st minute Ternana found the goal they had missed several times in the first half. Fere’s “hands-on” action with a series of close passes that lead Pereiro to the final shot: the decisive deflection goes to Di Cesare. Two minutes later Bari had an opportunity with Kallon taking a shot that was not very dangerous but which Iannarilli was unable to block. Unravel From the Walls.
