The tents continue to fill Piazza San Marco in Florencewhere thestudent camp for Palestine.

Over three hundred people took part in the initiatives of garrisonwhich has been going on for over 24 hours in front of the rectorate of the University of Florence, in what the participants renamed “Shereen Abu Akleh Square“.

“Today Piazza San Marco was liberated, we renamed it Piazza Shereen Abu AKLEH, a Palestinian journalist killed by Israel two years ago for reporting the truth of Zionist crimes”, explained the Student Assembly for Palestine in Florence yesterday.

The square is covered with signs that read words such as “All eyes on Rafah”, “Israel out of the university”, “Free Palestine”, “Stop the genocide”.

And this morning one moved from the square noisy walk, which touched some university complexes of the centre, from via Laura to piazza Brunelleschi.

L’student intifada began in response to the call for national mobilization of the Young Palestinians, on the day of the 76th anniversary of the Nakba, the forced exodus of the Palestinians in 1948. The demonstrators are calling for “the condemnation of the genocide of the Palestinian people and the termination of all agreements with Israeli Universities”.
