The Messina Ris activity concluded yesterday in the house in via Manenti where the lifeless body of Peppe Ottaviano, 40, was found on Sunday evening. The Carabinieri of the Scientific Investigations Department of the city of the Strait worked for three days on the site where the tragedy occurred. They searched the house collecting useful elements for the investigative activity on which they have been working, with the coordination of the Ragusa Public Prosecutor’s Office, the Carabinieri of the Modica Company and the Scicli Tenenza since after the discovery of the body.
This morning the prosecutor’s office was given the assignment for the autopsy examination.
The judiciary has ordered to entrust the task of the autopsy to the medical examiner Giuseppe Algieri, the same professional who has already carried out the cadaveric examination in the morgue of the Maggiore-Nino Baglieri hospital in Modica and who has also been in the house where he was the young lawyer was found dead. The times for the last farewell to Peppe Ottaviano in church for the funeral obsequies are not known. Everything depends on tomorrow’s exam, which will begin at 3.30 pm and the release of the body by the judiciary.
The victim’s family, represented by lawyers Luigi Piccione and Barbara Arena, has appointed the medical examiner Paolo Bonfiglio as party consultant. Laboratory tests on the various samples taken
in the house the Ris carabinieri will help to put together the investigative framework to ascertain the causes and time of Peppe Ottaviano’s death.
