TED, Technology, Entertainment, Design, is a non-profit organization that organizes events and conferences with notable speakers every year. Themes span a wide range of topics including science, art, politics, global issues, architecture, music and more. The speeches presented during the conference are subsequently made available free of charge on the site TED.com to be shared globally. This allows for a fair and free exchange of ideas, technologies and innovation that can be implemented in diverse communities around the world and that can ignite a spark in each listener. In the spirit of “ideas worth sharing”, TED has created TEDx, a program of events inspired by TED but set in the context of local societies and cultures, which offers an interdisciplinary look at the ideas of today and tomorrow from a “glocal”, from global to local. TEDx are independent events, organized in individual cities by teams of volunteers. Each TEDx event revolves around a central theme to which different speakers, with different professional and life backgrounds, bring an inspired and original perspective.
