This morning at 6.05at the Continuity of Care Unit of San Marco dei Cavoti, an extraordinary event occurred: a pregnant woman coming from Baselice, accompanied by a midwife and headed to Benevento for the imminent birth, had to stop due to the proximity of the labor and the urgency of the situation.
Promptly assisted by the midwife, by the doctor on duty – the young doctor Caterina Ielardi – and by the medical staff who intervened promptly, the lady gave birth to a splendid little girl, Viviana.
Emotion and happiness pervaded the former Medical Guard and all the healthcare personnel involved, who demonstrated great professionalism, dedication and promptness in managing this delicate and at the same time joyful situation.
“For me it was a great emotion – said Dr. Ielardi. When you start your medical shift you can expect anything but it’s really complicated to imagine having to give birth. Among other things, the first birth I have ever witnessed.”
The new mother and little Viviana are well and are under the loving care of the healthcare staff, who continue to guarantee them maximum support and assistance.
The General Director, Gennaro Volpe, also joins in the joy of the new mother and her family for Viviana’s arrival, congratulating and thanking the emergency staff and the operators of the ASL District who made this special birth possible in a context of attention and professionalism.
