Caserta – “Conscious birth: obstetric care in the puerperium”. This is the theme of the conference, promoted byOrder Obstetricians of the Province of Casertachaired by Dr Saverio Turcowith the doctor as scientific director Daniela Guarrielloheld in the capital of Terra di Lavoro, at Palazzo Paternò, in the presence of numerous professionals in the sector, gathered with the aim of sharing information and experiences to promote a peaceful motherhood.
At the center of the event is puerperium which represents a very special phase in the life of a woman and her newborn. The experience of the first birth, in fact, is probably the most significant transformative event ever experienced, a period marked by strong emotions, new and altered relationships, but above all a profound transition that poses great questions to a person’s resilience and ability to adapt. woman, bringing with her both health opportunities and problems and illnesses, conditions which will inevitably reflect on the well-being of the entire family unit. The woman, therefore, must receive advice from qualified personnel who follows certified procedures to promote a birth culture that respects the physiological rhythms of childbirth, intimacy, emotions and the emotional needs of the couple and the child. In this regard, complete and effective communication has proven to be an important treatment factor in medicine.
The first session, on the theme “Physiology of the puerperium” was moderated by Turco and Guarriello with interventions by Roberta Merola (“Morphofunctional modifications”), Rosita Landolfi (“Bonding and rooming in: starting a bond”), Serafina Sara Mention (“Home visiting: helping relationship between midwife and mother-parental couple”), followed by the presentation of a photographic contest.
“The care process during the puerperium” was the topic of the second session, moderated by Maria Vicario And Cristina Petrillowith interventions by Mara D’Orta (“The obstetric diagnosis”), Pasquale Rooster (“Perineal lacerations”), Filomena Verde (“Sexological counseling and recovery of perineal tone”), Henry Finale (“Practical and emotional support for blues maternity”). Third and final session on “The role of the midwife in supporting breastfeeding”: moderators Mary Rita Nasta And Salvatore Paribellospeakers Easter Leggiero (“Physiology and techniques of maternal breastfeeding”), Sara Longobardo (“Breastfeeding in women with pathologies”), Agnese Comparone (“Perinatal obstetric care: hospital and territory in synergy”).
