Civitavecchia – The complaint from Fns Cisl Lazio: “we are no longer available to assist and suffer the degradation experienced by the penitentiary system”

Civitavecchia – We receive and publish – In the penitentiary institutions of the Lazio region, just to name a few, the following critical cases have been recorded this week:
– On Saturday 11th and Sunday 12th and yesterday 15th May at the Nc cc Rieti some inmates did not return to the overnight room and refused food.
– Three officers were attacked on Monday 13 May in the “Casal del Marmo” juvenile penal institute in Rome with several days of prognosis, even one with 20 days
– On Monday 13 May some inmates caused several damages to public goods which affected a section in the Civitavecchia district of Nc
– On Wednesday 15 May the two North African inmates of the Nc cc Civitavecchia savagely beat two of their fellow prisoners, one of whom had to resort to medical treatment at the Civitavecchia hospital for the traumas reported, an inspector and an assistant who had to resorted to medical treatment at the city emergency room with a few days of prognosis.
In the Frosinone prison, between overcrowding, lack of agents and healthcare personnel, psychological distress, it is crushed by a series of critical issues that are causing its collapse. Compared to the PCD of 2024, there is a shortage of around 57 units, the staff of the penitentiary police must be able to work in peace and this, unfortunately, does not happen on a daily basis.
In the penitentiary institutions of the region (Velletri, Viterbo, Latina etc etc) there is the presence of around 6700 inmates, compared to a capacity of 5000, with the most serious situation in the Regina Coeli prison in Rome.
All the other penitentiary institutions in the region have effective crowding rates above 100% and there are 8 out of 14 in which the inmates present exceed the threshold of 140% of the places actually available except CR Paliano.
Currently the shortage of penitentiary police personnel in the Prap Lazio, Abruzzo and Molise is around 910 units, while in the Lazio region alone it is around -500 units.
The Fns Cisl Lazio is no longer available to assist and suffer the degradation experienced by the penitentiary system, since there is no civilization in a country that does not deal with the fact that minimum rules of dignity and safety are unique values that also apply to inside the penitentiaries.
