CORIGLIANO-ROSANO – Dear Director Buonofiglio, good morning. Regarding the upcoming administrative elections in our Municipality, together with other friends we asked ourselves some questions about the election for mayor, considering the exclusion of the candidate Domenico Piattello and his list.
Questions we ask you:
SINCE THERE ARE ONLY 2 CANDIDATES, CAN THERE BE A BALLOT?
TO BE ELECTED, WILL THE FUTURE MAYOR MUST OBTAIN 50%+1 OF THE VOTES OF THE ELIGIBLE ELECTORS OR OF THE VOTING ELECTORS?
WILL THE ELECTED MAYOR STILL HAVE THE MAJORITY BONUS?
WILL IT BE POSSIBLE TO VERIFY THE FAMOUS SITUATION CALLED “THE LAME DUCK”, OR NOT HAVING A MAJORITY IN THE MUNICIPAL COUNCIL?
AND THEN… YOUR INTERPRETATION ON THE FAILURE TO APPLY OF 2 COUNCILORS OF THE STASI BOARD: MITIDIERI AND THE ARGENTINO. ARE THEY THINKING OF DOING THE “QUAIL JUMP” AND GOING WITH THE STRANGE CANDIDATE?!

Considering that there are only 2 candidates for mayor, the first (and only) voting round is already a run-off.
Whoever of the two candidates exceeds 50% of the votes cast by those who go to the polls will be elected mayor.
As regards the “majority prize”, I believe that – to obtain it – the elected mayor’s lists must have reached or exceeded 40% of the overall consensus.
The hypothesis of the so-called “lame duck” – that is, the mayor without a majority in the city council – is indeed possible, but rather unlikely, in my opinion.
We wrote rather comprehensively just a few days ago about the failure of the current councilors Mitidieri and Argentino to run for the City Council (Two councilors of Mayor Stasi are not running for office. And everything is silent?!).
