Olbia, the university library named after Don Raimondo is born

The University of Olbia will have a new library.

Olbia will have its own university library with more than 2,000 volumes. It will be named after Don Raimondo Sattaan important figure for Gallura, namely the parish priest who passed away at the age of 62 in 2022, after leading the Stella Maris parish of Porto Cervo for years.

The memory.

The mayor Settimo Nizzi explained ithe reason for this title. “This is an important day because we remember one of the most present figures in our lives, in the last administrative years regarding the realization of the dream of not only increasing weight, but above all cultural growth, of our city and above all of the University Centre. – said the mayor of Olbia -. When we spoke with Don Raimondo about the development of the university in this area, he was the positive push for all of us, representing the Euro-Mediterranean institute of the Diocese of Tempio Ampurias. It was a frequent, daily stimulus, but above all one that belonged to our community, born in our city.”

The library.

It will be located in the headquarters around the secretariat of the University of Olbia. “When Don Gianni decided to donate Don Raimondo’s books to our University we thought that this was the way to remember a person we cared about so much – Nizzi said -. So we asked an architect who had had many relationships with Don Raimondo, to give us a hand to carry out this project which on the one hand showed the beauty and content of culture, but above all, which wanted to pass down over time something beautiful to give as a gift to all our children, to those who will go to study at the University and to all those who want to visit and read the pages of these thousands of books that have been donated to us”.
