May 17, Catania, Cinema King, 8.45pm

After having been previewed at the Rome Film Festival 2023, Segnali di Vita arrives in Sicily, the film by the Agrigento director Leandro Picarella produced by Qoomoon with Rai Cinema, with the co-production of Soap Factory and with the support of Film Commission Vallée d ‘Aoste and distributed by Qoomoon and SudTitles.

In Catania it will be presented by the director at the King cinema, at 8.45pm. The film won the Laceno D’Oro Audience Award and the Audience Award for best feature film at the Trento FF.

SYNOPSIS – In Lignan, a village of few souls in the Saint-Barthelemy Valley in the Aosta Valley, an Astronomical Observatory scans the skies every night. Like a bell tower or a lighthouse, the large telescope marks the time of the small mountain community.

In autumn, the astrophysicist Paolo Calcidese moved into the structure as the sole custodian and inhabitant to carry out his scientific research and experiment with new technologies.

Due to a technical accident, however, he will be forced to put aside the stars and solitude to dedicate himself to other forms of life not yet considered: human beings.

DIRECTOR’S NOTES – “Signs of Life” is a film about empathy, about the need for others to understand ourselves. Starting from the work of an astrophysicist tasked with creating a questionnaire on false scientific conceptions, the film focuses on his need for relationships , contact and community.

It has always been important for me to talk about the reality of the border, convinced that it is precisely in these border lines that we can understand so much about the world in which we live.

After difficult years, in which distance from others also became distance from ourselves, it was important for me to tell simple stories of humanity and encounters.”
