A hands-on weekend, that of 18 and 19 May in Piazza Trento Trieste, with the third edition of “Ceramica in Festa 2024” event promoted by Cna, in collaboration with Ceramic&Colours and sponsored by the municipality of Ferrara. “We want to become a point of reference for the artistic processing of ceramics – underlines the municipal councilor Angela Travagli – highlighting local craftsmanship, with Ferrara which can be a themed tourist destination”. Ten open-air creative workshops, for children and adults, which will be able to welcome 120 guests in two days. “It will be a celebration of local craftsmanship – continues Linda Veronese, artistic and traditional Cna manager – with which Ferrara has a strong bond. There will be several ceramists who will take turns to convey to the citizens the pleasure of working with clay”. With the supervision of the Este master craftsmen, Sara Mantovani, Federica Pavasini, Carlo Demarzo, Greta Filippini, Riccardo Biavati, Antonella Manfredini, Elisabeth Occhi, Monica Grandi, Simone Marzana and Claudia Marino, there will be six workshops proposed: “Clay processing”, “Technique Raku”, “Estense graffiti demonstration” with master Franco Mazza, “A ceramic school” for the creation of terracotta vases in modern graffito and the presentation of the works of the students of the Dosso Dossi high school, “Solidarity ceramics” and “Colouring artefacts and cooking in an outdoor oven”. A project for the processing of ceramics, but also cultural, “discovering the Japanese tradition with raku firing”, as Riccardo Biavati, president of Cna Ceramica and former teacher at Dosso, points out, “with workshops that will allow children, teenagers and families to be actively involved in creating the artefacts, from creation with your hands, to cooking with colors and shades, to the rediscovery of the ancient craft of the craftsman”. Having started with the Ferrara art institute already in 2023 and with the fourth figurative classes “the path is based on the creation of scratch-decorated vases, from the design of the plastic model to the implementation in poor art” underlined the teacher of graphic techniques Erika Letini. “A laboratory made up of experiences – concludes Matteo Carion, president of Cna Ferrara – and which will bring young people and citizens into contact. In our artisan businesses, young people can find satisfaction in the use of technology and practice with the exaltation of the intelligence of hands” thus rediscovering an ancient craft of craftsmanship.
