Savona. Rino Canavese, former president of the Port Authority of Savona and today member and territorial representative of the Port Committee was heard this afternoon for over 4 hours as a person informed of the facts by the public prosecutor Luca Monteverde together with the general of the financial police Andrea Fiducia, as part of the investigation into corruption which led to the arrest of Paolo Signorini, Giovanni Toti, Aldo Spinelli and Matteo Cozzani.

Canavese arrived at the Court at 2.30pm and left around 7pm. He was heard with reference to the charge (involving the president of the Liguria Region, the former president of the Port Authority and the entrepreneur Spinelli) which concerns there thirty-year extension of the Bulk Terminal in Spinelli.

The operation was initially “opposed” also by Andrea La Mattina, who represents the Liguria Region on the board and Giorgio Carozzi, who represents the Municipality of Genoa, as well as by Canavese himself.

After a series of pressures, according to the investigators, both La Mattina and Carozzi had voted in favour, while Canavese was the only one to vote against.
