Reggio Emilia, 08 June 2024 – Tractors turnaround this morning at HospiceIn the urban forest where they started works for the construction of a new supermarket (in the area where the Hospice library was once located).
The Xr activists (Extinction Rebellion) Reggio Emilia they sat in front of the vehicles, effectively forcing them to leave. Stefano Ferrari from Reggio Emilia is also on site with them, let’s clean ourselves up.

“We were here to map the biodiversity of this spontaneous urban forest, which absolutely needs to be preserved – explains Ilaria Mezzenzana of Xr -. When we saw the tractors, two of us sat in front to block them“.
After the intervention of Digos the vehicles have left the area. “It’s a small victory – continues the activist – but unfortunately it will not stop the work. However, it is important that citizens know what is happening: property rights on this land dating back to 2015 can no longer be valid today, in the midst of the climate crisis.”
