A care model that is more attentive to the needs of citizens: the COT, the Crotone operations center, was inaugurated today
The extraordinary commissioner of the ASP Brambilla: “Let’s start with protected discharges and fragile patients, aiming for hospital-territory continuity”
A new way of conceiving health and social-health care, improving patient care. The COT, the Territorial Operations Center of Crotone in via delle Nazioni Unite, was inaugurated this morning, an innovative organizational tool aimed at strengthening and speeding up accessibility to health services in the Crotone area and creating a care model that is more attentive to citizens’ needs .
The COT, financed with 240,000 euros from PNRR funds and approximately 70,000 euros of resources from the provincial health company, will play a fundamental role in coordinating assistance to people and in connecting the various services and professionals, identifying the most appropriate assistance path to the patient and reducing waiting times, thanks to greater use of home care and the help of technological innovation.
Present at the event were the extraordinary commissioner of the ASP of Crotone Antonio Brambilla, the consultant for the PNRR on healthcare construction of the president of the Region Roberto Occhiuto Licia Petropulacos, the medical director of the garrison Lucio Cosentino, the director of the single district Pietro Brisinda , the councilor for social services of the Municipality Filly Pollinzi, the vice president of the Province Fabio Manica and the staff of the COT, the team responsible for the PNRR and other figures of the general and health management of the Asp.
“Today we are inaugurating the COT of Crotone – stated Commissioner Brambilla – which has the function of connecting the hospital level and the local services. We start with protected discharges, then we encourage the ongoing care of fragile subjects who, after the assessment preceding discharge from hospital, will be transferred to rehabilitation facilities. We are also working to structure the route to the patients’ homes, so that hospital-territory continuity is achieved. Starting first in Calabria – he added – also means testing the service, behind which there are many documents and IT tools and therefore being able to offer the Region and the other ASPs an evaluation of the critical issues that can be found in this complex and innovative path” . The commissioner specified that the staff employed in the COT is mainly nurses: “We will use nurses who worked in the 118 operations center – said Brambilla – capable of following the patient in the various phases of problem management, as they already have experience in dealing with in charge of people and in relations with local structures”.
Petropulacos, who brought greetings from President Occhiuto, underlined that the Crotone COT is the first concrete construction project of the PNRR, moreover within the established timescales. “These are demanding achievements from an organizational point of view – he commented – but which aim to ensure that fragile patients and their families do not fall into the holes that are often created in the passages between home, hospital and facilities. The mapping of good quality services that is being done – added the consultant – serves precisely to ensure that patients and family members do not feel lost and that they are directed and guided in transfers between the various levels of care”.
