With a dance step in the squares and places of art and culture of the city, the European Night of Museums will also be celebrated in Modena on Saturday 18 May with choreographic performances, shows, music and meetings from late afternoon to night.

After the success of the two previous editions, once again for 2024 dance characterizes the Modena version of the event which simultaneously involves museums throughout Europe. Born in France in 2005, Museum Night this year coincides with International Museum Day, established by Icom (International Council of Museums) which falls on May 18th.

In Modena, the European Night of Museums comes to life, under the artistic direction of Monica Ratti, with dancers from 14 city dance associations and schools and six professional companies. But in the afternoon and evening many other open-air spaces and cultural places in the city will also become the stage for concerts, meetings, discoveries and exhibitions intertwined with other events, such as the Belcanto Festival which will offer a concert by the singers of the masterclass in the rooms renovated of the former Estense Hospital where you can also visit in the evening the exhibition “Modena inside” by photographer Franco Fontana and the new immersive space “Avia Pervia” which welcomes visitors to the museum with the interactive history of Modena.

All initiatives have free entry (unless otherwise specified) and free access while places last or by reservation where indicated. The detailed program of the event, promoted by the municipal administration with the support of the Modena Foundation, can be found on the website of the Municipality of Modena (www.comune.modena.it/nottedeimusei) and on the visitmodena tourist promotion portal (www.visitmodena. it).
