“GRANDPA CLICK HERE”, APRILIA LAUNCHES THE TOUR TO EDUCATE THE OVER 65 ABOUT DIGITALIZATION

On May 15th the Campoverde Social Center for the Elderly in Aprilia will host the first stop of the tour to bridge the generation gap, only 4.4% of adults between 65 and 74 have basic digital and IT skills

The tour of the senior centers of “Nonno click here” starts from Aprilia and more precisely from the CSA Campoverde; at 10 am tomorrow 15 May the center will open its doors to grandparents and grandchildren to start a dialogue between young and old on the topic of technological education. Grandparents will therefore be invited to learn to use the most modern tools and devices and to surf the web, thanks to the lessons given by their grandchildren.

There will be 20 stops on the tour held in senior centers in collaboration with the Longevitas ETS Foundationa unique moment that has a double objective, that of bringing together two opposite generations with two different ways of communicating, and of fill a gap which in our country has affected the most adult age group ever educated on digital.

This project was born from some disconcerting data: only 4.4% of adults between 65 and 74 years of age would have basic digital and IT skills. A paradoxical number if we think that many “over 65s” still work and use at least one PC every day.

The project is also reaching 80 institutes where they will be approximately 4,000, the “grandparents” involved in the project, the “grandchildren” will be 1,600: all kids coming from lower and upper secondary schools in the national territory, who will become real teachers, ready to teach grandparents/pupils all the tricks of the digital world.

The pros of this project are many, from interactions between two generations unfortunately more and more distant, until raising awareness of cyber security. The latter, in fact, will be one of the main themes of the webinars that will accompany the initiative in parallel, involving teachers, parents and children, for an estimated total of around 20,000 beneficiary families.

The project includes a series of meetings for each selected institute, during which the learning by doing methodwith many practical activities on different devices (PCs, tablets and smartphones), so as to make grandparents independent when dealing with any device.

The training will cover disparate topics, including access and use of the internet, the email service, knowledge and use of APPs and access to public administration services via SPID.

Grandfather Click Here is a project created by MOIGE, Italian Parents Movement, in collaboration with State Police, Anci – National Association of Italian Municipalities and with the contribution of Intesa Sanpaolo Charity Fund and social and cultural works.
