Once salvation was achieved, the former Lecce coach Roberto D’Aversa wanted to dedicate a thought to the Salento team, which he had to leave following his dismissal on March 11th. This is the message published on his Instagram account by the Stuttgart coach, who returns to the episode of the headbutt to Henry which caused so much discussion:

“Dear Lecce fans,
I would have liked to respond sooner to every single message of solidarity, esteem and affection that I have received in these two months. I do it today, in this way, involving everyone, because the opportunity is good to apologize to you once again for my gesture at the end of the match against Verona: I made a mistake and I paid for it, a bad example which however remains isolated in my story of a man and professional.
I am very happy for Lecce’s extraordinary and deserved salvation. I carry all of you Giallorossi fans in my heart and this is why I have been waiting for the right moment to say THANK YOU, on behalf of my family and my staff.
The immense joy of this umpteenth beautiful undertaking by the team, its owners, the directors Corvino and Trinchera and every single Giallorossi employee will remain forever. I close with a hug and sincere thanks to Mister Gotti for his recent words. A nice gesture that I won’t forget because it’s not for everyone. I love you, thank you!
Roberto D’Aversa ❤️??”.
