THE NCO SCHOOL

The Non-Commissioned Officers School of Taranto, named after the Gold Medal for Military Valour, Lorenzo Bezzi, presents itself as a modern university campus with wide avenues, buildings and infrastructures surrounded by greenery.

The training activity of the School fulfills the function relating to education, aimed at developing ethical and military qualities, acquiring seafaring knowledge and improving physical aptitudes; as well as that relating to education, aimed at completing the specialist knowledge, civic education and culture of attending personnel, ensuring, for the Marshals role, university-level training. In particular, at the end of the course, the Cadet Marshals obtain a three-year degree in “Science and Management of Maritime Activities” or a degree in “Nursing” or “Informatics and Digital Communication” with the University of Bari (UNIBA) or “Industrial Engineering”. and Naval Systems” with the Polytechnic of Bari (POLIBA).

The School also deals with the training of graduated roles and ranks of all categories (with the exception of the Motor Technicians and Harbor Masters who carry out the training activities at Mariscuola La Maddalena) and the provision of all the refresher courses foreseen in their career.

The Command of the School is headed by an admiral officer who exercises top management of the School’s activities and supervises the training of students and course attendees.

The Taranto NCO School was founded in 1947. The Command was established on board the Cadorna ship, whose Commander thus took on the double role of Commander of the Unit and Commander of the CEMM Schools of Taranto.

In 1949, the School left Nave Cadorna, moored in Taranto, to move to Capo San Vito where today it is present with the new name of NCO School of Taranto (MARISCUOLA TARANTO). The School depends, like all Navy training institutes, on the Navy Schools Command (MARICOMSCUOLE) based in Ancona.
