PIEVE DI SOLIGO – Originally from Adria but for years a Treviso by adoption due to his residence in Montebelluna, Mister Luca Gotti was the protagonist of a heroic gesture that ended up in the national news. At dawn last Monday, 10 June, the coach of Lecce Calcio was at the Hotel in the Loris restaurant park (Pieve di Soligo) when lightning struck the hotel causing the start of a fire in the electrical panel.
At that time the only two guests inside the hotel were Mister Gotti and Pantaleo Corvino, director of Lecce’s technical area. Woken at dawn by the violent storm that hit Pieve di Soligo, Gotti ran to the door of Corvino’s room to warn him to go to safety. Neither of them was involved in the start of the fire, which was immediately contained thanks to the intervention of firefighters and carabinieri. Gotti’s beautiful gesture quickly spread around the country.
On Sunday evening Gotti and Corvino had dinner in Pieve di Soligo and then returned to their respective rooms shortly before midnight. Both had attended a sports conference in the area. At the first light of dawn, after having torn a plant in the garden in two, the lightning blew up a control unit causing a fire in the electrical panel. Gotti was awakened by thunder while Corvino continued to sleep. The coach, seeing smoke rising from the landing of the resort, ran to knock forcefully on the sports manager’s door, waking him up and taking him to safety.
On the same day, Lecce Calcio formalized the renewal of Luca Gotti’s contract as coach of the Serie A team until 30 June 2026. The agreement had already been reached in the days preceding the fire but the signature arrived on the same day of the start of the fire did nothing but amplify the noble gesture of Mister Gotti.
